2023 Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

We are over-joyed to announce to our members the release of two delicious Sauvignon Blancs, just in time for beautiful sunny days ahead.

For the first time in Tenor’s history, we have crafted two separate bottlings of Sauvignon Blanc, each from distinct vineyard sites. The winemaking team felt that these two locations have such unique and distinguishable characteristics, that they deserved to shine on their own as single vineyard wines.

If you have the opportunity to open both at once, we hope you enjoy the side-by-side experience as much as we do!

2023 OLSEN VINEYARD SAUVIGNON BLANC

The 2023 Tenor Olsen Sauvignon Blanc is a single vineyard wine from the Yakima Valley AVA. The winemaking team collaborated with our vineyard manager to restrict yields, resulting in small, concentrated berries. Cool fall nights preserved the wine's freshness while allowing continued flavor development. Hand-harvesting occurred in the early mornings of late September.

Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit was hand sorted and whole-cluster pressed. The juice was transferred to tanks and cold-settled for 24 hours. The clarified juice was then racked into 65% new French oak. Barrel fermentation was kept at a very slow pace, lasting several months. After fermentation, the wine rested until racking in the spring of 2024. Only 3 barrels were made, which were blended and bottled (unfined and unfiltered) in September 2024, yielding a mere 77 cases.

The final wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc clone 1.

“We decided to isolate this as a single vineyard bottling because it was just so luscious and expressive that we thought it had its own voice, to tell a different story. Only 3 barrels made, but they were some of the best in our cellar. This wine resembles a dry (not sweet) version of Sauternes. The honeyed apricot expression of this is unlike any other dry Sauv Blanc we have ever made and it honestly thrilled us so much that we couldn’t bare to blend it with anything else. This small bottling may be the best Sauvignon Blanc that we have ever made.”
