2019Grenache
2019Grenache
The 2019 Tenor Grenache was crafted from a single vineyard, named Thunderstone, which is located in Washington State’s Royal Slope AVA. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were limited to one cluster per shoot for maximum concentration. After a warm growing season, they were hand-harvested in the early morning of October 11th, 2019.
Upon arriving at the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted and berry-sorted. Fermented in stainless steel tanks for over three weeks, the resulting free run wine was then moved to three 500L French oak puncheons (33% new) for 16 months of cellaring. Three puncheons barrels were bottled (unfined and unfiltered) in April of 2021, resulting in only 165 cases.
Tasting Notes
Spiced raspberry, black tea, spring flowers, and dark spice. Aromatics of sweet red fruit, ripe currant, and vanilla bean, all equally integrated so as to present a complex wine in a coy, almost playful way. Palate shows restrained weight, with layers of texture and volume. A wine built of anticipation, it’s a wonderful start to our first Grenache vintage.

Awards & Accolades
"Sourced from Thunderstone vineyard in the Royal Slope AVA, this outstanding 2019 Grenache was entirely aged in stainless steel before bottling. The resultant wine shows off very pretty red currant and red cherry flavors alongside stony minerals on the palate, along with a soft texture and good length. It delivers really good drinking enjoyment now that will persist over the next 8-10 years."
