2015Merlot

The 2015 Tenor Merlot was crafted from several vineyards across three separate AVAs in Washington State: Columbia Valley, Red Mountain, and the Walla Walla Valley. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were limited to one or two clusters per shoot for maximum concentration. They were then hand-harvested in the early mornings of the late fall. Upon arriving in the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted, berry-sorted, and then fermented in either stainless steel (83%) or concrete (17%) tanks. Using only the free-run wine, it was then moved to custom French oak barrels (67% new) for 20 months of cellaring with over 40 individual evaluations by our winemaking team. Only 136 cases were produced.

Tasting Notes

Intense notes of raspberry puree, sweet smoke and spices. A hint of black tea and berry potpourri adds complexity. Swirling adds sweet fruit, strawberry jam, plum skin, floral notes and crème brûlée. The palate is saturated with red and black fruits, fine tannin and vibrancy that defies its ripeness. The finish is long and compressed, hinting at its need for short term cellaring.
