2020 Tenor Malbec

The 2020 Tenor Malbec was crafted from the Champoux vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills AVA and the Scarline & Solaksen vineyards in the Royal Slope AVA. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were limited to one or two clusters per shoot for maximum concentration. The fruit was hand-harvested early in the morning in October. Upon arriving in the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted, berry-sorted, and fermented in barrel (100%). The free-run wine was cellared for 21 months in new French oak (78%) and used French oak (22%). The resulting 9 barrels were bottled in July 2022, producing only 211 cases.

"Notes of dark spices, peppercorns, blue plums and blueberries. Some crushed stones and orange peel, too. Full, layered and creamy with silky tannins and delicious blue-fruited character. Mellow and velvety finish. Drink or hold."

Tasting Notes

Dark cherry in the glass with aromas of black plum, cardamom, vanilla bean and bone broth. The palate shows blackcap raspberry, cigar box, chocolate orange and chalky minerality. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with chalky tannins and ample structure. A focused, linear finish shows bright red cherries and a pleasant acidity.
