Medium garnet in the glass with a translucent rim, the 2022 Tenor Pinot Noir has wild aromatics of gunpowder, rosehip, pink peppercorn, and red cherries dominating. Supported by steak juice, violets, sour cherry, and Asian spices on the palate. Pleasantly medium bodied, the tannins are velvet and allow the structure of the acidity to shine. Elegant power yet light on its feet, the finish is long and saline with tobacco leaf and blood orange intrigue.

Vintage Notes

The 2022 Tenor Pinot Noir was crafted from the Conner Lee vineyard in the Columbia Valley AVA and from north facing blocks in the Solaksen vineyard within the Royal Slope AVA.

The winemaking team worked with our vineyard manager to restrict yields, creating small, concentrated berries. Thoughtful canopy management and intensive irrigation strategies were implemented. Cool fall night temperatures preserved freshness in the wine while continuing flavor development.

Hand-harvesting took place in the early mornings in October. Upon arriving at the winery, the fruit was cluster sorted with 80% being destemmed and berry sorted before being added on top of 20% whole cluster fruit. The wine spent 30+ days on skins for extended maceration before being barreled down into 82% new french oak. The wine was cellared for 20 months, with 11 barrels being selected and carefully blended. Ultimately, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered to ensure the wine in bottle is pure and vibrant, producing only 276 cases.

    The world-class 2022 Tenor Pinot Noir is mainly sourced from the Connor Lee Vineyard and was stored in 90% new French oak barrels before bottling. The wine yields knockout aromatics with exotic spices and generous red fruits alongside shades of bergamot, orange peel and a dusting of white pepper. The palate is complex and seamless with serious heft and underling finesse. Offering its plush texture and very pretty red fruit core, with flat out fabulous underlying verve, enjoy this beauty now and over the next ten plus years.

    Sourcing grapes from Connor Lee and Solaksen vineyards, the 2022 Pinot Noir is mineral-driven and reductive in style, a rarity in the region, where not much Pinot is grown. Cardamom, forest floor and tart raspberry accent a darkly colored, concentrated palate that’s stemmy and earthy in garrigue-esque character and soy. Full-bodied and aged in 82% new French oak, it will stand up to a few years of aging, 5-7 years.
