2015Malbec

The 2015 Tenor Malbec was crafted from a single vineyard along the Royal Slope in the Columbia Valley AVA. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were hand-harvested in the early morning. Upon arriving in the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted to ensure only pristine clusters go into the wine and then fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks. Using only the free-run wine, it was then moved to custom French oak 225L barrels (100% new) for 20 months of cellaring with over 40 individual evaluations by our winemaking team. Only 87 cases were bottled.

Tasting Notes

Tenor Malbec is characterized by racy freshness, and one of the most flamboyant aromatic profiles in the Tenor portfolio. Expect captivating notes of floral perfume and fresh raspberry and blackberry—straight off the vine, and acidity you can almost smell. Round that out with remarkably silky tannins, light sweetness and great length, and you end up with some of the richer, most opulent vintages Tenor has produced. It’s plush mouthfeel and incredible freshness make it a great early drinking wine, but it also ages exceptionally well, keeping its youthful form through 8, 10, even 12 years.

Awards & Accolades

"Saturated ruby. Pungent aromas of dark raspberry, blackberry, licorice and violet. Fine-grained flavors of boysenberry, blackberry and violet are energized by surprising acidity and complicated by a salty nuance. Delivers terrific purple berry intensity and penetration, finishing firmly tannic but not dry, with excellent grip. An outstanding Washington Malbec with the spine to age."
