2022Sauvignon Blanc
2022Sauvignon Blanc
The 2022 grape harvest season began with a cool and wet Spring, which resulted in delayed budbreak and bloom. Some vineyards experienced primary bud damage, which affected the timing of the harvest. A combination of environmental and agricultural practices led to a heavy fruit set, which required growers to control both vigor and crop level. The season finally got warmer in late June, which helped gain a few weeks back on the delayed vintage. The beautiful late summer warmth continued well into Fall, creating ideal harvest conditions. As a result, the 2022 vintage produced big fruit flavors, great natural acidity, and some of the best quality fruit in a decade.
The 2022 Tenor Sauvignon Blanc wine was made using grapes from select vineyards located in Horse Heaven Hills, Royal Slope, and Yakima Valley AVAs. The fruit was hand-harvested and immediately transported to the winery. After being whole-cluster pressed under protective CO2, the juice was delivered into tank and barrel-fermented in various sizes of new and used French oak using five different yeast strains. The wine spent 11 months in barrel before being cold-stabilized and bottled unfiltered for flavor and aromatic intensity.
Tasting Notes
The unfiltered 2022 Tenor Sauvignon Blanc has a pale straw and brushed yellow gold color in the glass. Star fruit, chalk dust, and white flowers create a pleasing aromatic core supported by decadent notes of bundt cake and limoncello. The palate showcases white currants, kiwi, lemon curd, white peach, and vanilla cake. The medium bodied mouthfeel is superbly balanced with tangy acidity. The finish is lengthy and complex with guava nectar, white chocolate, and grapefruit layers.

Awards & Accolades
"The 2022 Tenor Sauvignon Blanc is a seamless wine made by the new Tenor winemaking team. Coming from this slightly cooler vintage, this saw a touch more cigar barrel aging. Coming from the Spice Cabinet and Olsen Vineyards, this offers lychee and pineapple notes alongside dense pear and stony undercurrents. The palate is rich and layered with a soft mouthfeel and glorious sense of length. Delicious even its youth, this beauty will show well for another eight to ten years."

"The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc opens slowly in the glass, with a delicate blend of lemon oil, minty herbs and hints of confectionary spice. This is pure elegance on the palate. It’s silky and supple, nearly weighty, yet energized by a core of ripe stone fruits and candied citrus that steadily builds tension toward the close. It finishes spicy and potent yet remarkably fresh. The 2022 is holding its power in reserve. There is a bright future here. The 2022 was aged in French oak, barrels, 60% new."
